First, thanks for stopping by.
Wildlife photography has been a passion of mine for many years. I have lived most of my adult life (17+ years) in Africa working in the field of humanitarian assistance and relief.
Most of this time has been spent working with the International Rescue Committee(IRC) -- a great organization that I recommend you check out if you are interested in supporting international relief work.
I have worked in Gabon, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Angola, Rwanda, DR Congo, and Kenya.
When not working I take every opportunity to go on safari and photograph wildlife. I have been crazy about animals since a small child and I have always wanted to go to Africa.
I typically try and visit a country several times to allow me to visit as many parks as possible at different times of the year. I have visited Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Madagascar, Borneo, and India.
If you are interested in going on safari feel free to contact me at michaeldespines1@gmail.com. I am happy to share what I have learned about organizing such a trip. All safaris are not created equal and the types of safaris, costs, and options vary wildly from one country to the next. This is especially true if you want to organize a safari specifically for photography.
I hope that you enjoy my site and please drop me a line and let me know what you like, what could be improved, or if you have any other comments.
